Order Barcodes for WooCommerce – Installation

  • Log into your wordpress admin panel
  • Go to Plugins
  • Click Add New
  • Click Upload, and upload the zip file
  • Activate
  • You’ll see a PluginDistrict menu on the left. Hover over it and you’ll see the Order Barcodes settings page.
  • That’s it!

 

Settings

The settings page is used to pick the type of barcode you want to use for your orders.  There are multiple different types to chose from and a sample of each is pictured below.  The barcode image will be shown on the order details page and the order email that is emailed to both the store owner and consumer.

What is it?

The scanning form can be beneficial for both the store admins and the store’s customers.  It will work with any USB barcode scanner that is compatible with the barcode.  Even if you don’t have a scanner, the form works with hand keying in the upc number as well, which can still save a lot of time when working with a lot of orders.

The store admins can use the scanning form to quickly “Complete” or “Check In” orders.  The customers can use the form to quickly “Look Up” their order details.  Security is built in to make sure you can only see the orders you are allowed to view.

There are 3 different form actions available.  They are:

  • Look Up – view the details of an order.  This option is available for both store owners and customers.
  • Complete Order – change the order status to “Completed”.  This option is only available for users logged in as admin, author or editor roles.
  • Check In – change the order status to “Checked In”, which is a new status added by this plugin.  This option is only available for users logged in as admin, author or editor roles.

How can I style the form?

By default the form should take on the styling from your WordPress theme.  If you require additional styling the form is encapsulated within a div and you can use the following class:

Why is the barcode image not showing on the website?

The barcode image is generated from an external API.  Make sure that you can access the website by clicking the following link.  If you are unable to access the site, it may temporarily be down or your network may be blocking access to it.

Why is the barcode image not showing on emails?

Many email providers will block images if coming from an unknown source.  You should see a link someone around the email that says something like “Display Images”.  Clicking that link should fix this issue.
